CHALLENGES FOR ROKEL ORPHANAGE

Uncle Williams visits to Rokel and the children residing at the Jesus Disciple Interim Care Centre, overseen by the dedicated Reverend Tijan Bangura. The establishment of this orphanage in January last year aims to provide shelter and care to children in need. However, despite the teams' admirable efforts, the orphanage is facing challenges in acquiring essential furniture for their residence. A predicament compounded by the lack of governmental support for orphanages in Sierra Leone, leaving them to rely solely on the generosity of individuals and organizations.

Within the walls of the care centre, five boys and six girls, all attending school, navigate their daily lives with resilience and hope. The struggle to meet their basic needs is a stark reality that weighs heavily on the caregivers and the absence of external assistance makes each day a test of endurance and resourcefulness for those involved in ensuring the well-being of these children.

The plight of this orphanage came to light during the bi-monthly coordination meetings that bring together various interim care centres in the western district with key stakeholders from relevant Government Ministries. Despite not being a large international organization, we're driven by a shared commitment to making a difference in the lives of these vulnerable children. Every success, no matter how small, is celebrated and utilized to provide assistance to those children most in need.
