REPORTING BACK, LOOKING FORWARD

Mama Mayila looks back over the year at her other favorite memories including progress on the build of our new interim care centre enabling the children to move in in time for the start of their new academic year at their new schools and spend their first christmas in their new, permanent home.

A new two-year service level agreement with the Ministry of Gender and

Children's Affairs and Ministry of Planning and Economic Development, was developed under their rigorous new outcome based framework.

Although Funding was tight during 2022 with a reduced child sponsor base, as the last of our legacy adoptions concluded, increasing construction costs at the beginning of the year and significant inflation towards the end of the year all of which impacted our programmes as well as the timescale for completion of the new build. But in spite of the headwinds felt the world over, we were still able to support the children in our Moa Wharf kinship foster care programme in one of the most challenging and marginalized chiefdoms in Sierra Leone, a slum community in the capital Freedom as well as children in three other orphanages.

Mama Mayila looks forward to welcoming new children to our new home and earning our place in the heart of our new community.

Our annual report and activity plan are aligned to the Ministry of Social Welfare, Gender and Children's Affairs child first alternative care policy and to the United Nation's sustainable development goals.
