MABRON'S CHRISTMAS CELEBRATIONS

Mo Bangura

Mabron School is absolutely packed to the rafters today, as parents, caregivers, and family members come together to join the 390 enthusiastic pupils in a joyful celebration of Christmas at Springwater Academy at the heart of Mabron community. The atmosphere is vibrant and filled with excitement as everyone gathers in the hall, creating a sense of community and shared joy. After a warm welcome, which includes heartfelt introductions and a moment of reflection through prayers, the event officially kicks off with an inspiring presentation on the true meaning of Christmas, sweetly delivered by Fatmata from class 2, alongside her classmate N’gatha a bright and articulate student from class 5. Their eloquent words resonate with the audience, reminding everyone of the values of love, generosity and togetherness that Christmas embodies.

Following this uplifting introduction, the highlight of the event unfolds with the much-anticipated nativity play. The stage is set to depict the iconic moment when the angel visits Mary, a pivotal scene that captures the essence of the Christmas story. The angel, portrayed with grace and poise and flapping wings, delivers the miraculous news to Mary that she is to bear a son, emphasizing the divine nature of this child. The narrative continues as the angel reassures Joseph, who is understandably troubled by the news, explaining that Mary's pregnancy is a result of the Holy Spirit. In a touching moment, Joseph comforts Mary, showcasing the themes of love and support that are central to the holiday spirit. The nativity play not only entertains but also educates the young audience about the origins of their Christmas celebration, instilling a deeper appreciation for the traditions they observe.

As the nativity play concludes, the excitement in the room builds, leading into a rousing rendition of the beloved Christmas carol, "Joy to the World." The familiar melody fills the air, and everyone joins in, singing with enthusiasm and joy. This musical interlude serves to whet everyone's appetite, both for the festive spirit and for the delicious food that is soon to follow. As the celebration continues, tables laden with an array of festive treats and fizzy pop are unveiled, inviting everyone to indulge in the culinary delights that mark the occasion. The combination of laughter, music, and shared meals rounds off the festive celebrations, creating lasting memories for all involved. The day at Springwater Community Academy not only celebrates Christmas but also strengthens the bonds of community, family, and friendship, leaving everyone with hearts full of joy and gratitude.
