HOPE'S BIG BOARD MEET

Mama Mayila and all the kids extend a warm welcome to the esteemed members of the Hope Board as they gather for the first meet of 2025, filled with ambitious plans and preparations for our significant milestone - the 10th anniversary of our foundation later in the year - celebrating a decade of impactful work and community engagement.

Following a comprehensive tour of the children's bedrooms, each with their own bathroom and centres garden and facilities, the Board get down to business.

And for the first time the kids attend and actively engage. Following the establishment of their own Kids Council, they're keen to see how decsions aremade and their involvement is crucial, as it empowers them to participate in the decision-making processes that directly affect their lives and futures.

Board Chair Alfred Fornah takes the lead in guiding the discussions, providing a clear overview of the foundation's end-of-year financial position. He is joined by Aunty Rose Tiafoie, the Secretary, and Dr. Frank N’Yama, the Treasurer, both of whom contribute valuable insights into the foundation's achievements over the past year. Together, they reflect on the progress made, the challenges faced, and the successes celebrated, ensuring that every voice is heard and every achievement acknowledged.

In addition to reviewing the financial health of the organization, the Board delves into monitoring information derived from our Service Level Agreement (SLA) with the Ministry of Gender and Children's Affairs. This critical evaluation helps us understand how effectively we are meeting our commitments and the impact of our services on the community. The Board also takes the time to assess service evaluations of our summer school and baby bump maternal health projects, discussing the feedback received and identifying areas for improvement. With the foundation's tenth anniversary approaching, the Board expresses a keen interest in brainstorming creative and meaningful suggestions to celebrate this significant birthday.

Following a request from the Kids Council the Board agree on to initiate the process of changing our name, a decision that reflects the broader focus and mission of the Foundation that has evolved over the years, especially in light of the diminishing threat of Ebola. This change symbolizes our commitment to adapting and growing in response to the needs of the communities we serve.
