HAPPY JUNETEENTH, FREEDOM DAY!

The kids send lots of love and a Happy Juneteenth from Sierra Leone joining their brothers and sisters in America celebrating freedom and the end of slavery on June 19, 1865. With so many men, women and children from across West Africa enslaved and shipped across the world from Sierra Leone, descendants and diaspora now living in America share an eternal bond with Salone and 156 years on we give thanks for the US Government declaration of a national holiday today; a hugely symbolic recognition hopefully presaging actual action addressing this historic scar and make real that first, as yet unrealized, promise of freedom.
