CLEARING FOR CASSAVA

A chance to catch up with the hard-working Hope Sakuma farmers starting heap-making for more cassava by extending the farm to the pineapple plot and farm store.

Working in two teams, one brushing the land while the other digs the cassava heaps, the first fortnight of clearing and digging yields 940 high heaps right up to the store ready for planting with chitted cassava sticks.

230 pineapples planted last year are thriving and due to harvest next year. Located in the remote chiefdom of Sanda Magbolontor the sustainable farm provides rice, gari and palm oil to the kids in Mama Mayila's Cradle and Mo's Wharf.
