CELEBRATING EDUCATION: MABRONS BRIGHT FUTURE

Row upon row of smiling faces and a massive turnout for Spring Water Community Academys' end of term event celebrating a heart-warming yuletide tale of their communities schools’ survival and the promise of a bright future to come.

Starting the celebrations a touching nativity play finds Joseph leading Mary to the Inn with a visit by the three small wise boys before the party gets underway with pupils and parents enjoying snacks and sandwiches and pop kindly donated by uncle Cor.

Long-time readers may recall way back in 2016 and 2017 Mama Mayila visiting Mabron community in the aftermath of Ebola bringing food, reuniting orphaned children with family and donating classroom furniture to a local school. Earlier this year the school ran into problems and could no longer fund their teachers’ stipends and this vial communiy asset was facing closure.

Now, thanks to the Hope team and Mama Mayila, Aunty Hanneke and uncle Cor the school is safe and its future secure with a plan for expansion. Headmisress Miss Safi and all the teachers are happy now earning above minimum wage, receiving their stipend every month on time and able to pay their NASSIT social security to contribte to Salone's tax base, while the kids benefit from a free education, improved teachers morale and a great learning environment.
