An amazing country that comes together every year to celebrate their nation's founding as one people; celebrating the shared values that bring their diverse people together; celebrating the differences that make the nation stronger. An amazing country that stands as a beacon for unity and for togetherness to other nation's less developed. Only this year, rather less so and so the message that reaches those less developed nations that it's ok to divide and slide into a barely concealed authoritarian rule, with rule of law routinely challenged and elections rotuinely undermined; that it's ok for police and worse to beat their people and worse.
