BANGING THE DRUM FOR WOMEN!

Mo Bangura

Wouldn’t you know it? Women are running away with our great chiefom groundnut chase taking the top two places on our Glorious Groundnut Leader Board!

The Ladies from the Mothers Club, Congbleneh (75 pans) and Gbonkelekeh (73 pans), claiming putative gold and silver - Hope Sakuma’s first two all women-FBOs and the only teams smartly planting in rows now out-producing the men!

No wonder they've got a drum! But will the Ladies reap the rewards?

Of course! And with this performance they've already won registration for next year's challenge but Sabenti Rombomp remain a strongly placed third, coming up on the rails (60 pans but fewer planted) and with some villages opting to replant for a second crop, the Ladies can take nothing for granted and it’s bound to be neck and neck all the way to a December photofinish.
