AZOLLA TO REDUCE SUBSISTENCE FARMER COSTS IN SIERRA LEONE

Time to catch up with the Makelekos All-Stars seen clearing and planting our third IVS rice paddy, while Engineer Amara checks on our Azolla which is settling in and clumping together nicely!

In Sanda Magbolontor chiefdom - where our sustainable farm, Hope Sakuma, is based - there are hundreds of hectares of inland valley swamps suitable for intensive rice production and we're hoping to show farmers in our Autumn Farmer Field School that amazing Azolla can provide enough nitrogen to reduce the need for expensive Urea, helping subsitence farmers boost yield and intensify rice production sustainably.
