REPORTING BACK, LOOKING FORWARD 3

Being keen on all things environmental the kids favourite moment of the year was helping EU Ambassador, Tom Vens - making the cover of our annual report (with kind permission) - the British High Commissioner and the Mayor of Freetown beat plastic pollution at the big EU Beach Clean Up. Mama Mayila looks back over the year at her other favorite moments including meeting Miss Vicky the Poet at the launch of her first anthology Treasures in the Dust. This inspirational young girl child activist came along to our Christmas party to inspire the vulnerable kids in our kinship fostering programme and inspired us all.

Working in two of the most challenging and marginalized chiefdoms in Sierra Leone, a slum community in the capital Freedom and one of the poorest rural chiefdoms, Mama Mayila's rightly proud of her Foundation's achievements, the children orphaned by Ebola, receiving regular food support and now doing well in school and the amazing growth of Hope Sakuma, now helping 23 villages intensify rice production sustainably and diversify into drought-resistant crops empowering women to boost nutrition, food security and climate change adaptation in Sanda Magbolontor chiefdom.

Our annual report and activity plan are aligned to the Ministry of Social Welfare, Gender and Children's Affairs alternative care policy and to the United Nation's sustainable development goals.
