KEEPING MUM HAPPY ON MOTHER EARTH DAY IN SIERRA LEONE

The kids were honoured to welcome Sierra Leone environmental champions - Uncles Alfred and Vidal from Society 4 Climate change Communications, Uncle Henry from Pan African Climate Justice Alliance and Uncle Alhassan from the Green School Club - to Hope Interim Care Centre to celebrate Mother Earth Day 2018 with a big beach clean-up and some practical environmental action!

Last year, the kids learnt all about forests and plastic pollution and this year, on Mother Earth Day, Uncles Williams, Alfred, Vidal, Henry and Allhassan took the kids to Hamilton Beach for a practical environmental lesson on beating plastic pollution.

Gloves and bin bags at the ready the kids soon got down to the work in hand litter picking to keep our beach unspoilt, just like it should be - plastics free! And what a lot of plastic they collected - great job guys - environmental champions one and all!

CANDY WITH A PURPOSE!

Uncle Alfred thoughtfully brought some motivation for the kids big clean up - some healthy corn snacks but not just for the eating but to demonstrate the importance of not littering with the wrappers.

LITTER LESSONS LEARNT Miss Dee and Miss Katie demonstrate learnt litter lessons by correctly bagging their sweetie wrappers and plastic water sachets safely on Mother Earth Day and what better way to make mum happy than keeping her beautiful Sierra Leone beaches unspoilt watching the kids celebrate Earth Week!
