COMING 2GETHER 2 STAND 2GETHER

Standing together for Sierra Leone children Madam Fatima Maada Bio and her Foundation made a humanitarian mission bringing much needed aid for Hopes' interim care and kinship fostering programmes. The visit focused on our new arrivals, survivors from the mudslide and meeting our other children.

A TRUCK!

First came the truck - a truck! which wasn’t expected at all - and Uncles Williams, Osman and Abs unloaded 15 x 25kg bags rice, 5 x cartons Creeks Baby food, 6 x packets milk, 2 x boxes Saba laundry soap and 100 x bundles of drinking water.

What amazing and unexpected support for our interim care and kinship fostering programmes! With continuing support like this from within Sierra Leone and from without we can have confidence to extend programmes directly helping vulnerable children.

HELP FOR MUDSLIDE SURVIVORS

Madame Bio talked about some of the donations her Foundation has made to mudslide survivors and recognized Mama Mayila and her teams' work on the ground. Mama Mayila, very touched, thanked Madame Bio and Marenka Ruiter and her Foundation, Hart voor Afrika for thier generosity and kindness and the ladies talked about child protection issues and the common difficulties faced across the underfunded interim care sector and some of the ways we might work together in the search for sustainability.

Accompanying Madame Bio, her Foundation’s team and the Honourable Emma Kowa – MP for Bo Southern Region constituency 76 and Parliamentary Committee member for Mines, Mineral Resources, Social Welfare & Privileges.
