Paying our Respects to Baby Alimamy

Very sadly Baby Liam passed away this morning at 11 am, after a tough couple of weeks and some difficult months.

We grieve this brave little boy, with so much character, who suffered so much in his too brief a life.

The Headman of Hamilton kindly gave his permission for us to bury Baby Alimamy and a representative from the Minsitry of Social Welfare, Gender and Children's Affairs visited.

Baby Alimamy came to us from Madina, Kambia District, last year with his twin Alusine.

Both boys suffered from hydrocephelus. Their mum had died from Ebola and their dad simply could not cope with two month-old babies. Baby Alusine died in hospital a day after their journey to Freetown but little Alimamy fought with all his strength, as he continued to, right until the end.

The odds were truely stacked against this little boy from the start and unfortunately Alimamy did not receive the treatment he needed before his condition deteriorated. We successully had him admitted into hospital with the help of the Ministry of Social Welfare, Gender and Children's Affairs but the doctors couldn't take any further medical action and confirmed Alimamy's diagnosis and prognosis.

Sleep on Alimamy, now at peace with your mother and brother and take your rest, you know we love you but God loves you best. Indeed you are God's best!
